A factory audit and a product inspection are different
A factory audit assesses a production site and its processes. A product inspection checks goods against the agreed specification at a particular stage. Neither automatically replaces laboratory testing, regulatory approval or a technical acceptance test.

Give the inspector a usable brief
Provide the purchase order, approved sample, drawings, measurements, tolerances, packaging and labelling requirements. List critical functions and known failure points. “Good quality” is not an objective acceptance criterion.
Agree the sample size, defect classifications and acceptance limits in advance. A sampling inspection examines selected units, not every item, and cannot prove the entire batch is defect-free. Safety-critical components may require additional tests or a different inspection method.
What happens during the visit
The inspector confirms the available quantity and production status, selects units under the agreed method and checks appearance, dimensions, function, packaging and markings within scope. Photos, measurements and observed defects should identify the model and batch inspected.
A report should distinguish verified findings from tests that could not be performed. Missing equipment, inaccessible cartons or incomplete production can limit the conclusion. Arrange specialised machinery tests with an appropriate technician when ordinary visual checks are insufficient.
Decide what to do with the findings
If defects are found, agree corrective action, ownership of costs and the evidence needed before shipment. Rework may require reinspection. Do not treat the report as a guarantee or release payment simply because a visit took place.
