Map every party in the shipment
An international shipment can involve the client, supplier, MedinChina, freight forwarder, carrier, warehouse, insurer, customs broker, customs authority and importer. Each party has a different contract and responsibility.
MedinChina may request quotes, coordinate collection or consolidation, transmit documents and follow milestones. Unless expressly agreed, that coordination does not make MedinChina the physical carrier, insurer, customs authority or importer.

Choose the route around volume, value and timing
Sea freight often fits containers, machinery and large volumes. Air freight or express can suit urgent, higher-value goods. Rail and road may be useful for particular corridors, and multimodal transport combines modes along one route.
For sea freight, FCL reserves a container while LCL shares space with other cargo. The choice depends on volume, weight, product, handling risk, destination, timing and total landed cost.

Read the Incoterm and quote line by line
EXW, FCA, FOB, CFR, CIF, CPT, CIP and DAP allocate different delivery points, costs and risk. CIF, for example, does not automatically include every destination charge, customs duty, tax or final delivery fee. A DDP or all-inclusive promise should identify the importer, clearance process, included taxes and exclusions.
Freight rates can change with weight, CBM, ports, carrier, fuel, season, surcharges and container availability. Confirm the quotation validity and measure final packed weight and dimensions before booking.
Prepare the importer and customs file
The importer should check legal capacity, licences, certifications, restrictions, HS classification, duties, VAT and destination documents before dispatch. Buying an item in China does not guarantee that it can be admitted into every market.
A shipment may require a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, certificate of origin, export declaration, technical documents, insurance evidence or product-specific approvals. The manufacturer, carrier, authority, laboratory or insurer remains responsible for documents it issues.

Plan for arrival, damage and delay
Inspect the shipment promptly, photograph visible damage, film opening where useful, retain packaging and report issues to the carrier within its deadlines. Cargo insurance may cover defined risks, but exclusions, deductibles, evidence and declared value control the claim.
Port storage, demurrage, detention and warehousing can arise when collection or clearance is delayed. Verify the destination, transport mode, cost, Incoterm, insurance, documents and authorisation to ship before an important dispatch.
Frequently asked questions
Does CIF include all delivery costs?
No. CIF covers the elements allocated by the Incoterm to the agreed destination port, but destination charges, customs clearance, duties, taxes and final delivery may remain separate.
Is MedinChina responsible for a carrier delay?
Unless a specific contractual commitment applies, transit dates are estimates controlled by carriers, ports and authorities. MedinChina can coordinate follow-up, but does not automatically become the carrier or guarantee an independent provider’s arrival date.
Who handles customs in my country?
The importer or a designated local customs agent normally handles destination clearance unless a separate service is expressly agreed. Confirm this before shipment.
